Ryan Richmond is a cost-conscious business lawyer who leads the firm’s bankruptcy practice across Louisiana, maintaining offices in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Ryan represents debtors, creditors and trustees in all stages of commercial and consumer bankruptcy cases. After serving as a law clerk for the Middle District of Louisiana Bankruptcy Court, Ryan has appeared in bankruptcy cases throughout Louisiana and Texas, whether helping businesses confirm their plan of reorganization or individuals obtain their discharge from debts. Ryan was also recently selected to serve as a Subchapter V trustee under the new Small Business Reorganization Act of 2019 (SBRA). Ryan is a certified business bankruptcy specialist with the Louisiana State Bar Association.

With almost 15 years of bankruptcy experience, Ryan can help businesses enact a quick or complicated turn around, or save an individual’s assets from foreclosure. Ryan enjoys the gratified feeling of helping businesses and individuals avoid bankruptcy, or utilize the bankruptcy code to keep their businesses afloat and affect the business community in a positive way.

In addition, Ryan serves as a concierge business counsel to several Louisiana businesses. His brand of “concierge lawyering” involves a personal relationship in which the client pays a flat fee or monthly retainer for personalized legal and business advice. This allows Ryan’s clients to appropriately budget and to contact him without the fear of being billed for every call or e-mail. With his MBA from LSU, Ryan helps his clients bridge the gap between their financial and legal needs.

Ryan is also active outside of the courtroom or boardroom. He was recently sworn in as the chair of the bankruptcy section of the Bankruptcy Rouge Bar Association (BRBA). Ryan has also presented on various topics ranging from the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act, the intersection of criminal and bankruptcy law, and the SBRA at conferences hosted by LSU, the University of Texas, the BRBA and the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees, among others.

Education and continuous learning are especially important to Ryan. He earned an MBA from LSU (while practicing full-time) to enhance his business and legal skills. Ryan also became a registered Louisiana mediator after completing the American Bankruptcy Institute’s 40-Hour Bankruptcy Mediation Program in December 2019. He also gives back to LSU by regularly serving as a guest judge at MBA case competitors and instructing students on international trips.

Although Ryan is originally from Northern California, he has fully adopted and embraced Louisiana and Southeastern Louisiana’s culture. He and his wife, Kerrie, are the proud parents of two daughters at St. Jude the Apostle School in Baton Rouge. Ryan also serves as an assistant football coach for St. Jude 7th-8th boys’ football team. He also recently joined the Krewe of Bacchus.
