Mary Katherine “Katie” Shoenfelt is a Baton Rouge native who joined Sternberg, Naccari & White, LLC. in 2023. She attended the LSU Law Center, where she earned her Juris Doctor and civil law diploma in 2009. That fall, she began handling complex medical malpractice and catastrophic injury cases with her father Oscar Shoenfelt, III, who has been a local trial attorney in Baton Rouge for over 40 years, and whose practice is statewide.

In her first year of practice, she tried two jury trials, and since then she has handled countless bench trials. She has experience in personal injury, medical malpractice, and, particularly, family law. Her practice areas also include business disputes and general litigation.

Katie's practice at SNW has expanded to focus on family law, focusing on divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, child relocation, spousal support, judicial separations, community property partitions, revocation of donations, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, restraining orders, injunctive relief, paternity and filiation, tutorship, and emancipation of minors.

Katie has been on the council for the Louisiana State Bar Association’s family law section since 2017, and was secretary for two years, Vice Chair, and Chair In 2022. She currently serves as acting Chair of that Section. Katie has also worked on the Baton Rouge Bar Association Pro Bono Project since 2012 and is a member of the Junior League of Baton Rouge, giving back to her community.

Katie has tried cases and handled appeals around the state, including in the First Circuit and Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal.She is licensed to practice before all state and federal courts in Louisiana, and has been peer-rated "AV-Preeminent" through Martindale-Hubbell. Katie has been selected as a Super Lawyers "Rising Star" in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
